The Midland MBA is Omaha's Only Hybrid MBA.

It combines the best of in-person and online learning
designed for people with responsibilities beyond going back to school.

IN-PERSON

To help build connections with classmates and professors, students meet in-person every third Friday afternoon and Saturday in Omaha. This time is devoted to case-based learning and discussion of real-world examples and situations, developing students’ understanding of business applications in a networked environment.

ONLINE

Every Saturday during distance weeks, students will have the opportunity to log-in for live class with their professors and classmates in a webinar environment. Attendance for online sessions is recommended, but not required, and all online classes are recorded, so students may watch recorded sessions on their own schedule.

Why This Format ?

Hybrid Structure

Take advantage of your classmates’ experiences during in-person meetings once a month, while still enjoying the flexibility of the online classes in-between.

Hybrid Structure

The Midland MBA’s hybrid structure has been proven to be at least as effective, if not more, than traditional business schools or online only classes. All courses meet both in person and online, allowing you to benefit from the best of both worlds.

Each term runs for nine weeks, consisting of three in-person weekends and six distance weekends. The required in-person meetings give all students the chance to meet faculty and work directly with classmates, while the optional online meetings can either be attended live or watched (and rewatched) in recordings. At the end of each term, all students have a one week break before starting new classes the following term.

Accelerated Schedule

You can complete the MBA
in as little as 16 months without pausing your career, and can get started every 10 weeks.

Accelerated Schedule

Five Chances to Start

Students are able to join the MBA at the beginning of every term throughout the year, choosing the pace at which they complete their degree. Students looking for the most flexible schedule can begin in October, while those looking to complete the course as fast as possible can start in August. With the Midland MBA, you’re never more than nine weeks from getting started.

Full course descriptions

Foundational Core (12 credits)

The foundational core is designed to assure that all students have a master’s level understanding of four core concepts before proceeding to advanced coursework. These courses in the fundamentals of business may be partially waived via the prior credit path for students with an undergraduate business degree or who can demonstrate significant accomplishment any of the following areas.

  • Financial Accounting
  • Managerial Economics
  • Marketing Management
  • Statistical Models
Required Core (18 credits)

The required core expands on foundational concepts to create a functional understanding of advanced business competencies. Every Midland student will take the following 3-credit courses, and will progress together in lock-step:

  • Management & Ethics
  • Operations Management
  • Managerial Accounting
  • Financial Management
  • Decision Models
  • Corporate Strategy
Global Consulting Capstone & Strategic Communication (6 credits)

Students will develop analytic and presentation skills, as well as a project portfolio to take with them during an in-depth final consulting experience that functions as an MBA capstone.
During their final term, students will work with a company abroad on a project developed in partnership with a host business and a faculty advisor, ideally focused on an area of growth for their own career. From this work, they will develop a consulting report and present this analysis in a formal setting as a capstone presentation. Students will also have the option to remain home working with a local company focusing on an aspect of their global operations.

Electives (6 credits)

Students will have the opportunity to take 6 credits of elective course work to develop their skills in areas of particular interest. Completion of electives in a specified topic area will complete the requirements for concentrations. Specific elective offerings vary from year to year, but have included:

  • Project Management
  • Investment Management
  • Sales and Leadership
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Finanicial Strategy for Value Creation
  • Intermediate Financial Accounting
  • Organizational Power and Leadership
  • Auditing and Decision Making in Accounting

Global Connections

In the final term, you will complete a global consulting capstone to solve a real global business problem, either locally or abroad.

How To Get Started

Automatic Scholarships

You can qualify for scholarships to begin their MBA, regardless of professional or academic background, thanks to generous donor support.

Automatic Scholarships

Thanks to generous donor support of the Midland MBA, several scholarships are available to all applicants, regardless of professional or academic background.

  • MBA Scholarship: Available to all applicants as resources allow.
  • Graduation Grant: $5,000. All applicants to our incoming class qualify for a Graduation Grant, covering 100% of tuition for the final term of the program.
  • Alumni Grant: 10% of tuition. All alumni of Midland University or previously associated institutions qualify for an Alumni Grant, which reduces tuition by 10% in addition to other discounts.
Experience-based Scholarships

Additional scholarship funds have been established to support individuals who are making substantial contributions to their communities, or who are working towards goals that will support the growth and development of those communities. For each of these scholarships, a separate written application is required. Awards will be made based on experience, qualifications, and date of application.

No Prerequisites

In an effort to build a diverse class and professional network for students, prior business coursework, training or GMAT is not required.

No Prerequisites

The Midland MBA is a rigorous, fast-paced program that will challenge students as they work through subjects for the first time and/or return to subjects previously introduced for a deeper examination to achieve mastery. However, in an effort to build a diverse class and professional network for students, prior business coursework or training is not required.

Previous Work

GMAT: The graduate management admission test (GMAT) is not required for admission to the Midland MBA. If you have already completed this exam and wish to send your scores, we will consider them as part of your application, but find the exam is not the only predictor of success in our application-focused MBA.
Previous business courses: Prior undergraduate training in business is not required for admission to the Midland MBA. Previous coursework in core subjects may be applied to the first four courses of the MBA under the Prior Credit path.
A bachelor’s degree in any field is required to start a master’s degree program.

Prior Credit

In four core courses, some fundamentals will be addressed that students with a robust business background may not need to revisit. Instead, these students may choose to have a lighter load in terms 1 and 2 and simply complete a 1-credit path through the core course to bring their understanding of the subject up to a master’s level.
Students who have completed relevant course work within the past 7 years and earned a B (3.0) or higher in the course may be awarded 2 credits per approved class toward the required 3 credits in the comparable Midland course. These credits will be awarded upon completion of a 1-credit project with a Midland instructor.
Once accepted to the program, students interested in the prior credit path will be asked to send in the Prior Credit Form with an official copy of any relevant transcripts.

Transfer Credit

The Midland MBA is designed as a cohort-based curriculum, allowing students to progress together through core concepts as they develop broad business training.
Students who have completed previous graduate level coursework at other institutions may be eligible, however, to transfer in previous credit earned. Students who have completed relevant course work within the past 7 years and earned a B (3.0) or higher in the course should submit the Transfer Credit Form and copies of any relevant transcripts for a personalized transfer evaluation.

At Midland, there were smaller classrooms, great communication, and I had direct access to the professors. Sometimes in bigger classes, you're working on a hope and a prayer that you'll be able to get to the professor directly, but at Midland our professors were always available.
